EVANSVILLE - As the 2022-23 season quickly approaches, University of Evansville head women's basketball coach Robyn Scherr-Wells has announced her team's non-conference slate.
"The basketball season is almost upon us and I am excited for our fans to see the hard work our players have continued to put in," said Scherr-Wells on the upcoming season. "I feel our non-conference schedule gives us a competitive slate versus regional opponents and not only opportunities to see the Aces at home, but hopefully some games on the road too. Five of our games are against opponents we faced last year and we have the opportunity to play two Big 10 teams on the road which will prepare us well for MVC play."
Featuring a mix of Power 5 and regional opponents the 10-game schedule includes an equal split of games played inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse and on the road. Season tickets start at just $50 for the 2022-23 campaign with floor seats available for just $100. Men's Basketball season ticket holders can get general admission season tickets for a special price of $25. Fans can purchase tickets by contacting the ticket office at 812-488-2237.
The Aces get the 2022-23 campaign underway on Saturday, October 29th with an exhibition contest against Roosevelt University (Ill.) inside Meeks. The game will represent a reuniting of sorts as Scherr-Wells welcomes the university where she held her first head coaching position and won two conference championships
Opening the regular season, Evansville hits the road to play Eastern Kentucky on Monday November 7th, following a 67-57 win for the Aces inside the Ford Center last season. After the trip east, the Aces take on Iowa in Iowa City on November 10th, challenging the Hawkeyes, who earned a No. 2 seed in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, for the second-straight season.
The regular season home opener takes place on Wednesday, November 16th when Chicago State comes to Meeks Family Fieldhouse. Rounding out the week, Evansville faces its second Big Ten opponent in nine days with a matchup with Illinois in Champaign on Saturday, November 19th.
Evansville will look to avenge an eight-point loss to the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks on Saturday, November 26th at home before going back on the road for a pair of contests against teams the Aces captured victories against a season ago. On Friday, December 2nd, UE travels to Morehead State, earning a 79-49 win over the Eagles last season.Wrapping-up the road portion of its non-conference slate, Evansville heads to Louisville, Ky. for a midweek contest with Bellarmine on Thursday December 8th, a team the Aces defeated 89-83 in 2021-22.
