The Purple Aces are looking for a bounce-back game after having a week off following their loss to the Michigan State Spartans. Evansville struggled against a tough Michigan State team during its fourth game of the season. UE did benefit from 11 second-chance points compared to the Spartans seven.

The Chicago State Cougars are also looking for their first win of the season on Sunday. So far, the Cougars have lost eight straight games to open the 2023-24 season but with only one of those losses coming at home. Sunday's game will only be the second in Jones Convocation Center for Chicago State as they return from the Cleveland State Tournament with losses to Kansas City and Cleveland State.

The Aces continue to be effective at getting to the free-throw line around tough offenses. As of Tuesday morning, the Aces are 57th in the nation in free throw attempts with 22.25 a game and 44th in free throws made per game with 16.25. UE also has one of the highest rates of free throws in the Valley, ranking in the Top 3 for free throws made per game.

In her sophomore season, point guard Kynidi Mason Striverson has become a staple on the floor for Evansville. Averaging 35.15 minutes a game, Mason Striverson leads the MVC in minutes per game, a full 30 seconds ahead of the player behind her in the conference. Nationally, Mason Striverson is 52nd in minutes per game.
