EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Evansville women's basketball will host the Lindenwood Lions for its annual holiday game on Saturday afternoon.
Â
The Purple Aces will celebrate the holiday season on Saturday afternoon by trying to get their first home win of the season. Saturday's game is UE's annual Ugly Sweater game as coaches and staff will be decked out in their finest holiday gear. Fans coming to Saturday's game at Meeks Family Fieldhouse are encouraged to wear their ugly sweaters as well.
Lindenwood comes to Evansville on a two-game win streak with a close win over Eastern Michigan and a blowout of NAIA Harris-Stowe State. The Lions only have two wins on the season and have not had a road victory in four attempts. Lindenwood has particularly excelled in defense early, holding teams to just 60.3 points per game. Against Harris-Stowe, the Lions forced 26 turnovers leading to 38 points led by junior guard Mary McGrath.Â
While last week's game against IUPUI was a tough loss for Evansville, graduate center Barbora Tomancova had the game of her career. Tomancova had her first double-double of the season by a landslide with 27 points and 19 rebounds. It was the best
double-double performance by a Missouri Valley Conference player since 2015. In recognition of her career game, Tomancova earned her first weekly honor from the MVC. The graduate center was named the Valley Player of the Week on Monday afternoon as decided by conference staff. Along with 27 points and 19 rebounds, Tomancova had a block and an assist on her stat line as well.
The Aces are almost top in the nation when it comes to free throws. UEÂ trails behind only LSU in free throws made per game, averaging just under 21 extra points at the line. Evansville leads the Valley in two free throw categories including free
throws made per game and free throws attempted per game.Â
