MOLINE, Ill. - Beginning the postseason, the University of Evansville women's basketball team opens 2023 Hoops in the Heartland against No. 8 seed Murray State at Noon on Thursday inside Vibrant Arena at The MARK in Moline, Ill.

The Aces and Racers are meeting for the 40th time in series history with Murray State owning a 24-15 advantage in the all-time series. The two sides split their regular season meetings with Evansville winning, 75-67, at home in January and Murray State returning the favor in February, 80-60.

Evansville is in search of its first postseason win since the 2016-17 campaign when the sixth-seeded Aces upset No. 3 Missouri State to reach the semifinals in Moline. The No. 9 seed for UE ties its best seed since that 2017 Hoops in the Heartland coming into the postseason in 2022 as the No. 9 seed, albeit in a 10-team league as opposed to the 12-team league that the MVC is this year after the additions of UIC, Belmont, and Murray State.

Senior guard/forward Abby Feit enters Hoops in the Heartland in range of continuing to move up the career rankings in multiple statistical categories. Feit currently sits fourth in UE history with 1,600 points, just 26 back of third-place Shyla McKibbon-Puelston. Feit is also in the top five in rebounds (second), made field goals (tied-fourth), three-pointers (fifth), and steals (seventh).

Evansville comes into Hoops in the Heartland having played 10-straight games missing at least one starter. After starting conference play with a 5-5 mark in MVC action, the Aces were impacted by injury issues, going 1-9 in its final 10 conference contests. During that stretch, Anna Newman missed four games, and Myia Clark, Abby Feit, and Barbora Tomancova all missed two games each.
