EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville women's basketball team has added junior forward Mira Hanna for the upcoming season.
After spending two seasons with Little Rock, 6'0" forward Mira Hanna joins the Purple Aces for the 2024-25 season. Hanna appeared in 12 games for the Trojans over two seasons, including the Trojans 2022-23 OVC Regular Season Championship team that appeared in the WNIT.
"I am pumped that Mira has chosen to join Evansville Women's Basketball!" says Head Coach Robyn Scherr-Wells. "Her character, drive, and determination make her a fantastic addition to our team.
"I love that she was a part of a championship team her freshman year at Arkansas Little Rock. Mira knows what a championship team looks like and the required work and connectedness for those results. She will be a wonderful representative of our program on and off the court."
Prior to her time in Little Rock, Hanna spent her high school career at Berkley Prep in Tampa. Hanna averaged 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks per game with the Buccaneers in her senior season. Hanna's average of 4.5 blocks per game during her final season placed her 43
rd in the nation in 2021-22. Hanna also received several accolades for her final season in Tampa, including being named a Hillsborough-Pinellas All-Star, a Hillsborough County Western All-Star, a First Team All-State honoree, and a finalist for the Florida Class 3A Player of the Year.
Hanna also made history with Berkley Prep as the first women's basketball athlete to sign an NLI to play Division I basketball. She was also recognized for her work in the classroom as a two-time Florida High School Athletics Association Academic State Champion.
"I chose UE because of the welcoming atmosphere from the coaches and people on campus. There are a lot of resources to set me up for success on and off the court!" Hanna says of her decision to join the Aces.
Hanna is the daughter of Ayman and Amal Hanna and has two siblings, sisters Sarah (21) and Jolina (11). Hanna plans to be a pre-med student at UE, with hopes of becoming a doctor following her playing career.
