EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville men's soccer team travels to Cincinnati, Ohio on Tuesday to face No. 25 Xavier in its next road test. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
Series History
Tuesday marks the 28th all-time meeting between Evansville and Xavier. The Aces hold an 18-5-4 advantage in the series and lead 7-4-1 in meetings played in Cincinnati. The teams met last year in Evansville, playing to a 3-3 draw.
Scouting Xavier
Xavier enters Tuesday's match with a 7-0-2 record and a 2-0-1 mark in Big East play. The Musketeers most recently earned a 3-0 victory over Marquette on Saturday at home. Xavier is ranked No. 25 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll.
The Musketeers are led by freshman midfielder Gerard Lorente who leads the team with 11 points on three goals and five assists.
Last Time Out
Evansville opened Missouri Valley Conference play with a 1-0 victory over Drake on Sept. 26 at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The Aces recorded two shots in the first half while holding the Bulldogs to five shots, while
Hugo Amo made one save.
Evansville created early chances in the second half before
Carlos Iglesias broke through in the 65th minute for his first career goal.
Devin Shepherd played the ball forward to Iglesias following a long pass from Amo, giving the Aces a 1-0 lead.
Drake recorded six shots over the final 25 minutes, but Evansville's defense held strong. Amo made a save in the 89th minute to reserve the shutout and record his third clean sheet of the season.
