EVANSVILLE, Ind. – In her first week of action for the University of Evansville volleyball team, Savannah Gogel was named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Gogel wrapped up her first three matches in a Purple Aces uniform averaging 1.27 blocks and 2.55 kills per set. In her season debut at UT Martin, she recorded six kills and two blocks.

She opened the weekend at USI finishing with eight kills and five blocks before putting forth her top effort in the home win over the Screaming Eagles. Gogel had a career-high 14 kills while adding seven blocks.
