EVANSVILLE, IN – The University of Evansville Lady Aces Swimming & Diving team is set to compete this week in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships against five other teams. The Aces will take on Illinois State, Southern Illinois, Missouri State, Arkansas Little-Rock and Northern Iowa.
Evansville was picked by the MVC coaches in the Pre-championship voting to finish fourth (17 points), behind Missouri State (36 points), Illinois State and Southern Illinois who were tied with (27 points). Rounding out the rankings were Northern Iowa (12 points) and UALR (7 points).
The meet will be held in Carbondale, IL., and will take place from Feb. 13 – Feb.15. The Championships will start each day at 11:00 a.m.
Evansville brings in a strong squad, headlined by junior
Michelle Tipton who's had an outstanding season. Tipton ranks in the top-10 in the MVC in four different events, the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.77, the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.60, the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.88 and the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:44.53.

Danielle Freeman ranks seventh in the 50-yard freestyle and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle and fellow freshman
Micheala Kent ranks seventh in the 100-yard backstroke and eighth in the 200-yard backstroke. Junior
Mackenzie Powell ranks second in two events in the MVC, the 100 & 200-yard breaststroke and senior
Melissa Thurman comes in ranked tenth in the 200-yard breaststroke as well.
The Aces top relay team, which ranks second in the 200-yard medley relay, will feature Kent, Powell, senior
Melissa Ball and sophomore
Abby Smith.
Evansville will begin the event starting at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday with the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard Individual Medley, the 50-yard freestyle and diving heats.
