EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville baseball program is very visible this summer as many Purple Aces are playing professional baseball and collegiate league baseball. The latest news includes two All-Stars and a 13 strikeout performance!

PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL:
LHP KYLE FREELAND
Grand Junction (COL, Rk)
Season:  0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0 GP, 0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
Notable:  Returning from injury…yet to make his season debut this year
 
RHP SAM JOHNS
Hagerstown (WAS, A)
Season:  0-2, 4.78 ERA, 2 SV, 21 GP, 32.0 IP, 33 H, 20 R, 17 ER, 10 BB, 17 K
Notable:  Pitched 3.0 innings this past week, yielding one run on two hits…Opponents are hitting just .256 against him this season.
 
OF KEVIN KACZMARSKI
Kingsport (NYM, Rk)
Season:  .278 BA, 1 HR, 7 RBIs, 9 R, 15 H, 5 2Bs, 9 BBs, 2 SB
Notable:  On a four-game hitting streak (July 5-8)…tallied an RBI in each of the last three games (July 6-8)…Leads the team in walks.

Notable:  Earned the win, yielding one run on four hits in 7.0 innings at Visalia (July 2)…Last two appearances have been out of the bullpen vs. High Desert (July 7,9).

Notable:  On an eight game hitting streak (June 26-July 8)…Three doubles in the last five games…Hit his first home run of the season vs. Orem (July 4).
 
INF ERIC STAMETS

Notable:  Posted two multi-hit games in his last three contests (July 7,9).
