DES MOINES, Iowa - Facing its first road trip in conference play this season, the University of Evansville women's soccer team makes the trip to take on Drake in Des Moines, Iowa at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening.
"Our mindset is obviously to always do better than we did the previous game and find a way to get some results," said Aces women's soccer head coach Krista McKendree. "I think we got the results we needed and wanted in the first two games, had a slip-up on Friday night and just didn't play very well at all. The rebound mindset was the next day at training to try and get better and just refocus on it's just one game. For us, we've got to just come out and continually compete for our challenges individually and then continue to try and put together a 90-minute performance."
After nearly eight days away from competition, the Purple Aces look to bounce back after dropping their first Missouri Valley Conference match of the season in a 3-0 loss at home to UNI on October 5. Following a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Panthers scored three times in the second half, twice in the 51st minute and capping it off in the 77th minute, to take the win. Evansville was out-shot in the match, 16-9, but the Aces had just one less shot on-goal than UNI with Evansville putting four shots on-frame in the match.

Saturday's match was schedule to be played at Cownie Soccer Complex, but due to field conditions and forecasted inclement weather, the match has been moved to Tiger Stadium on the campus of Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa. The Aces and Bulldogs are meeting for the 21st-time with Drake holding a narrow edge in the all-time series, 11-9. A season ago, the Bulldogs earned a 4-1 victory over Evansville at Arad McCutchan Stadium on October 14, 2017. After starting the season 2-6, Drake has won three of its last five matches to improve its overall record to 5-8 with a 2-1 mark in MVC action. In their last contest, the Bulldogs dropped a 1-0 match on the road to Loyola on October 6. Offensively, a pair of Bulldogs lead the way as Olivia Bruce and Allison Walls have each found the back of the net three times this season with Walls adding two assists on the year. Between the posts, Drake has relied on Kelsie Stone who has played every minute for the Bulldogs this season, holding a 1.07 goals-against average with 60 saves on the season.
